DTN COMMENTS: Another very quiet start to the day in cash cattle
country. Asking prices are around $203-plus in the South, but still not
fully established in the North. Significant trade volume will be delayed
until later today and/or tomorrow, especially in the North which has yet
to trade any more than a handful of cattle. Tuesday saw a light trade
mostly in Kansas at $201, fully steady with the prior week's weighted
average, yesterday a light trade took place mostly in Texas at $201 to
$202, steady to $1 higher than the previous week's weighted average. Beef
cutouts are expected to be lower at midday with light to moderate box
movement.
According to the Export Sales Highlight report net beef sales of 9,700 MT
for 2025 primarily for Japan (3,600 MT), China (3,500 MT), South Korea
(800 MT), Canada (600 MT), and Taiwan (600 MT), were offset by reductions
for Mexico (700 MT) and Chile (100 MT). Exports of 14,000 MT were
primarily to Japan (3,800 MT), South Korea (3,600 MT), China (2,600 MT),
Mexico (1,200 MT), and Taiwan (900 MT).
